History of Rochester Bible Baptist Church

Pastor Alfred Cotton started out serving God as a minister at Antioch Baptist Church in Rochester, NY. While serving he attended Bible College at North-Star Bible Institute. During the course of his schooling he felt called to start a church in the urban areas of Rochester that would be committed to reaching young men and women who were struggling with life issues. He desired to teach the Word of God (make disciples) to these young men/women with hopes of seeing them grow, commit to serving God, and teach others the principles of God's Kingdom.

With this vision Pastor Cotton began to hold service and Bible studies at his home in Rochester, NY. Within 6 months Pastor Cotton and 8 other worshippers rented space on O'Brien St. where the church grew and Pastor Cotton resigned from His managerial position at Eastman Kodak to pursue full time ministry.

About 3 years later the church had grown to about 30 active families, had raised $20,000 from building fund initiatives and in 1993 Rochester Bible Baptist Church (RBBC) moved to it's current Location of 274 Merchants Rd. Rochester, NY

Over the years RBBC has gone through a series of leadership trainings, restructuring, and outlining our vision of "Discipling The Church to Dispel the Myth In the World". This has resulted in a continual spiritual growth process.
